Architecture, to me, has always been about how people experience space and how it makes them feel. How a space feels through lighting, materials, scale of the space and objects have a profound effect on someone even if they don’t realize it. When I look back on my most vivid memories, I don’t just remember the people that were there, but what was around me and how that made me feel in those moments. To be able to shape how someone navigates in and around their world is powerful and can have a great impact. This is what led me to pursue architecture.
My career and academic pursuits have led me to Duncan Wisniewski Architecture, where I get to specialize in affordable housing with an emphasis on sustainable design. I took a special interest in housing during my undergraduate architecture program and was able to research the positive and negative impacts it has on communities. A team of fellow graduate students and I also competed in the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Development Competition. The experience I gained working closely with the clients, developers, and design mentors, gave me insight into the process for affordable housing projects that drew me to this firm. In conjunction with completing my graduate degree in architecture, I became a Certified Passive House Consultant. I am excited to be a part of a team that has established themselves in Vermont as leaders in their field.
