In 2008, Cheryl began her first post-graduate job at LDa Architecture and Interiors in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she worked for 10 years. Although focused primarily on high-end residential which taught her about many beautiful details, Cheryl enjoyed the occasional project centered around affordable housing or backcountry huts. Her time there was invaluable as it taught her the full breadth of architecture, design, and construction. Wanting a break from design and feeling the need to learn more, Cheryl took a break to work at Harvard University, where she spent 5 years at the House Renewal Project Management Office working at a much larger scale in an academic setting. In between the day to day of helping to restore undergraduate dormitories, she received a master's degree in Sustainability from Harvard Extension School. Her capstone focused on the built environment and integration of landscape as a means to host ecological matter that can effectively host biodiversity (are green roofs worth it?).
Shortly after the birth of their daughter in 2023, Cheryl, her husband Thomas, their daughter, and dog moved up to Essex Junction to be closer to family and mountains. While she misses her daily bike commute, she's occasionally found skiing before work or exploring the trails around her house with a baby on her back. She's so happy to be working on design and housing solutions now in Vermont!
