Hinesburg Animal Hospital
COMPLETE 2004
Hinesburg, VT
The first two buildings for the same veterinary partnership, this building is located in a commercial building park just on the outskirts of Hinesburg, VT. A key programmatic feature of both buildings is the necessity for exam rooms to have dual access points, the public side for clients to bring their pets, and the private side for doctors, which connects to “back-of-house” veterinary functions such as laboratory, surgery, ICU, kennel, etc. A custom masonry dog wash was designed for this building and repeated in the second building in Bristol, VT. Essentially a one-story building, a partial second floor is built into the roof structure to provide bulk storage of supplies, cat and dog food, etc. The siding is lodgepole pine, a fast growing western pine that is fabricated and pre-finished by the Cape Cod Siding Company into various profiles and shapes, including the board-and-batten profile used on this building.
