Bristol Animal Hospital
COMPLETE 2010
Bristol, VT
Located on the outskirts of Bristol village, this building features an animal hospital and a physical therapy practice. A common building type in rural Vermont is the composition of house, ell and attached bar. Building upon this idea, and maintaining the vernacular consistency, the “house” is white painted clapboards, complete with dormers (used to bring light into interior first floor spaces), business office and a large window-walled waiting room provides patient access to the exam rooms. The “ell” houses the exam rooms, and the “barn” completes the ancillary functions of the animal hospital and also includes the PT Practice. The PT entry, centered on the barn’s south facade, is a shared entry with animal hospital staff.
